As we finish up the last week of 2010, it is a time to reflect on the past year. We have accomplished a lot of great things and are proud!  We have learned a lot, come up with some new and innovative ideas and it is with great anticipation that we move forward into the New Year. So, hold on to your hats and prepare for a January that is jam-packed with our regular clinics, some new clinics and as well, some great programs. (more…)

Dr. Curiel Interview — Treadmill Stress Tests

HealthCare Resources is pleased to work closely with Dr. Adolfo Curiel, a bi-lingual cardiologist. As we move through various topics/interviews with our physicians, we have interviewed Dr. Curiel regarding treadmill stress testing.

HCR: What exactly is a treadmill stress test?

Dr. Curiel: Exercise is a common physiological stress used to elicit cardiovascular abnormalities not present at rest and as well, to determine adequacy of cardiac function. Exercise electrocardiography (stress test) is one of the most frequently used, non-invasive modes used to assess patients with suspected or proven cardiovascular disease. The test is mainly used to estimate prognosis and to determine functional capacity, the likelihood and extent of coronary artery disease and the effects of therapy. (more…)

Big Los Mangos Fundraising Event Jan 28, 2011

Posted in Charity,Los Mangos Library by Pam on December 14, 2010

Every year, Biblioteca Los Mangos holds its biggest fundraiser of the year with the “Subasta” (auction). This year, the date is January 28, 2011!  This year promises to be the biggest and best ever as many worker bees behind the scene prepare.

There are numerous activities within this one big event so be sure and mark your calendars and plan to attend.

The art auction is vast with numerous paintings to be auctioned by auctioneer extraordinaire Gary Thompson of Galleria Pacifico and Maria Jose Zorilla (director of the Biblioteca). The silent auction and fixed price items are rolling in and are going to be fabulous! The raffle this year is going to be very different and so much fun! You will be an “instant winner” (doesn’t everyone love instant gratification?!).

Biblioteca Los Mangos (Library Los Mangos) is in dire straights at this time financially. Remember that this library is run entirely on donations and is not only a library but a true community center.

January 28, 2011 will not only be a chance to support the library, but as well, to purchase fine art and other items – from hotel stays to fine dining certificates.

We need you! Any types of prizes that you can donate and as well, if you can spare a few hours to assist in this event, either pre-event or during the event, it would be greatly appreciated! Please contact me for information!

Watch for more information in the weeks to come!

Happy Holidays from all of us at Los Mangos Library! (more…)

Dental Journey Continues — Trust & Results

For a couple of weeks now, I have dreaded this date arriving. Up until the very last minute, I tried to come up with some excuse to cancel. This date brought my mega-appointment with Dr. Lomeli to continue the major dental work. But then, early this morning, I told myself “What a weenie you are! Just do it!” (which is something I say to others when it comes time to have a colonoscopy and other fun tasks.)  It’s time for me to stop being a hypocrite! I had a friend on stand-by to bring me home later in the day just in case I had to be brought home horizontally.

Arriving for my appointment, Dr. Lomeli was not in the office yet. Woo-Hoo! I thought. He has had an emergency and I am cancelled. No such luck! He would arrive in a few minutes I was told by his receptionist as she put several drops of something to relax me under my tongue. I had come armed with Valium and several other mind altering aides but she told me they would not be necessary. I put some in my pocket just in case. (more…)

Holidays! Parties! Celebrations! Events!

There is so much going on around here that we have decided not to have any of our monthly clinics during the month of December. Coordinating schedules with all of the flutter of activities going on in the area has proven to be just too difficult! (more…)
